History

Poria, known as Fu Ling in Chinese, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years and is one of the 50 fundamental herbs in the Chinese pharmacopoeia. It grows on the roots of pine trees and was considered a product of concentrated pine tree essence. It appears prominently in classical Chinese herbal texts including the Shennong Bencao Jing.
